Valerius de Saedeleer

Valerius de Saedeleer

Valerius de Saedeleer is a Belgian painter; and these artworks which between 1930 and 1938 he collaborated with printmaker Roger Hebbelinck (1912-1987) to produce intaglio transcriptions in colour after some of his most popular canvases.

Our task, as curatorial assistant, was to catalogue these works and enter them into the School of Art’s Museum database. This involves inspecting the works in great detail – an opportunity one doesn’t get in a gallery. We noted inscriptions, damage, editions – and any other details that made the artwork what is is.
